I have been a surgeon intern at the Department of Mininvasive and Laparoscopic Surgery at Tokuda Hospital Sofia since 2006. In 2008, together with Professor Vladimir Dimov, from whom I continue to learn a lot, I created our ward. This period of time is when I achieved the most significant results as a laparoscopic surgeon.
In 2013, I was a surgeon in EULEX hospital in Pristina, Republic of Kosovo. My main duties were surgical control of injuries.
In 2010 and 2011, I was a surgeon in the Jaber Al-Sabah military hospital in Kuwait as part of a Bulgarian medical mission to Kuwait. During this time, I completed a year of training in laparoscopic bariatric surgery under Dr. Mohammed Al-Ajman.
From 2000 to 2006 I was a resident surgeon at the Clinic of Emergency Surgery and Endoscopic Surgery of the Military Medical Academy, Sofia. In 2003 under the leadership of Professor Evgeni Belokonski I made the first steps in laparoscopic surgery training, and in 2005 under the direct training of Ass. Krasimir Vasilev developed further knowledge.
In 1999, I acquired specialization in general surgery after passing an examination before a committee chaired by prof. Damian Damianov.
From 1997 to 2000 I was an intern in the surgical ward of the First City Hospital, Sofia. During this time I gained confidence and independence and developed a style of work as a general surgeon at the Department of Dr. Rumen Kirov. I successfully completed my specialization in general surgery.
After I graduated in 1994 until 1997 I was the first intern in the surgical ward of the Pernik District Hospital. I took my first independent steps in surgery under the direction of Dr. Simeon Stankov. This was the start of my specialization in general surgery.
In December 1994, I graduated as a Master of Medicine from the Medical University of Sofia.
From 1988 to 1994 I was a medical student at the Higher Medical Institute, Sofia.
From 1986 to 1988 I served in the ranks of BNA.
From 1975 to 1986 I completed primary education in Ivan Vazov School and secondary education in High School 19 Elin Pelin, Sofia.
I was born in mid-1968 in Sofia.
I completed postgraduate training in Bulgaria, Italy, Slovenia, and Kuwait on themes including „General and Operative Surgery”, „Ambulatory phlebotomy”, „Laparoscopic Surgery”, „Recovery in Inguinal Hernia”, and „Bariatric Surgery”.
My professional interest is in the application of minimally invasive and laparoscopic methods of treatment in emergency abdominal surgery.
I am a member of the Bulgarian Medical Association, the Bulgarian Surgical Society and the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery.
I speak English, Russian, and Arabic (medical) language.
When I'm not being a doctor, I enjoy my family and being at home with my daughter Tsvety and my wife Petya. Since I am not a talented athlete, I spend more time on good food and exotic drinks in the company of true friends.
