Hospital treatment
The hospital units where surgery is performed are called wards or clinics. Clinics are led by associated professors, professors according to academic rank. There are rules that govern their inner workings, workflow, and organizational structure. Upon admission to the hospital it is required that you will be informed of the rights and obligations that you have within the department.
I offer treatment in the surgical wards of Tokuda Hospital Sofia.
This hospital conforms to a uniform standard of best medical practice and a system of quality control in the fields of medical practice, patient care, and training of doctors, nurses, and technical staff. The hospital information system allows for the exchange of information and international consultations in realtime.
Tokuda Hospital Sofia is a well-regarded hospital, not only in Bulgaria, but throughout the region. The hospital is a multi-specialty hospital. It has three modern operating units, a same-day surgery unit, and a full range of surgical specializations including cardiac surgery and neurosurgery. There are two ICUs at the hospital where teams of experienced intensivists and anesthesiologists care for patients in serious condition 24/7.
Patients are accommodated in comfortable and hygienic rooms. According to their personal preference they are able to choose a private VIP or luxury room (see the menu „Hospital Care”, - „Facilities for patients and relatives”). Four-bed rooms allow for maximum privacy and comfort. Each has a separate bathroom with toilet and shower built according to Japanese standards.
Meals are based on modern cuisine. Each patient is served food that is freshly prepared on site according to their needs and the prescription of the doctor or dietitian. Meals are delivered to rooms. Quality is ensured by controlled transport of food in airtight containers from the kitchen to the patient.
Mandatory meetings between healthcare providers and patients occur during morning and afternoon or evening consultations. This is the time when at least one doctor and one nurse go visit a patient in his or her room and ask how he or she feels and whether there are new complaints, examine the patient if necessary, order new tests or procedures, and answer questions. The patient may have additional contact with the doctor at any other time if necessary or desired.
During the patient’s stay at the clinic, ward staff is obliged to allow time for rest and sleep, so do not be surprised if one of your guests is asked to leave the ward during break time or a night's sleep.
